Re: SS German Cross in Gold Holders vol. 2 Post by Joe Strantz» 09 Jan , Mark, I am researching SS Sturmbannführer Heinz Werner, and wanted to see the full biography in your book "German Cross Holders of the SS and Police, Volume 2 (on pages )". Also covered here are the miniature version of the cross, meant to be worn on the lapel, and the "denazified" version to be worn by surviving veterans. Reproductions All German decorations have been faked, and until recently the complicated construction of the DK made it a very difficult award to copy.

This series is outstanding from the first volume and now to this very recently published volume number 8 (number 9 if one includes Mark's book on the German Cross in Silver = all by R James Bender Publishing). The high standards of scholarship, research from primary sources, presentation and photographic material continues with this volume. The German Cross is rather unique in that the Gold and Silver versions were considered seperate awards, and only about 11 instances are recorded of a man winning both. Aro Gold medals and 2, silver medals were issued. Das Deutsche Kreuz in Gold. The German Cross stands from rank between the Iron Cross and the Knights Cross. It.

The German Cross is known by collectors today to be one of, if not the most, stunning and desirable award to have in their collection! We have here a Deutsches Kreuz in Gold (DKiG) by Otto Klein & Co., Gmbh Hanau. The Gold German Cross was awarded to military personnel to recognize repeated acts () of bravery or exceptional command in combat.   Volume 3 of this historically unique series encompasses the SS-Freiwilligen-Panzer-Grenadier Division ”Nordland” and the developmentally tangent SS-Infanterie-Regiment ”Nordland.” 37 detailed award holder biographies in the established format include their surviving German Cross in Gold award recommendations.
